Alas, because we are social animals, we wants to fit in with our group, whether at home, at work, or in groups we participate in. The worst thing for humans is to be ostracized, rejected, left out of any group we wish to belong too. So in order to be accepted, we need to be acceptable and this is why we need to know what others think of us, hoping it is something positive.
