It’s Comforting and It’s Not

As I grow older
my children are beginning to act
as if they were my parents
They ask whether
I take my vitamins
worry when I have a sniffle
scold me when I get overly tired
call if they haven’t heard from me
and generally are beginning to act
as if there were my parents

It’s comforting and it’s not

For as much as I mind
becoming my mother’s mother
I mind becoming my children’s child
