I Should Know Better

Why do I eat the wrong foods
when I know better —
like sneaking chocolates
in between meals
and regretting it two minutes later?

Why do I order dessert
when I know better —
by saying I’ll just have one bite
then eating the whole thing
and regretting it two minutes later?

While some might be able to
exercise consistent control
I always seem to opt for
instant gratification.
